Main opposition party CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has asked its cadres to remain standby for starting a ‘waves of protests’ claiming that efforts compromising national interests are underway.
Speaking in an interaction programme on constitution amendment organised by UML sister wings–Youth Association Nepal (YAN) and ANNFSU–at Academy Hall in Kathmandu on Thursday, the former Prime Minister challenged ruling parties to register amendment proposal at the Parliament. Leaders from other political parties too were invited on the occasion.
“We should be ready to commence a flood of protests to protect national interest,” said Oli during the programme.
Chairman Oli alleged that formation of the incumbent government was pre-planned and its objective is harmful to nation. The process of constitution amendment is government’s ploy to fulfill that mission, accused Oli. “But, let us remind, we too are in the Parliament,” said Oli.
Furthermore, Oli went on to say that the first amendment to the constitution was a compromise rather than necessity. “The amendment was meaningless, and same thing will happen this time as well,” said Oli.
