Helicopter supplying relief and reconstruction material to earthquake-devastated villages crashed in Langtang on Thursday afternoon while taking off. The aircraft has been written off, but no casualties were reported.According to Deputy Superintendent of Police of Rasuwa Awadesh Bista, the helicopter seemed to have encountered problems while taking off after dropping off construction material in Langtang, a popular tourist destination that was destroyed in a massive avalanche triggered by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck central Nepal last April. The helicopter was operated by a Swedish pilot, who has sustained minor injuries in the mishap, according to Bista. This is the fourth helicopter involved in earthquake relief work to crash in the past year. In May, a US Marines UH-1Y Huey helicopter went down in Sindhupalchok killing four US nationals, two Nepali soldiers and six Nepali wounded earthquake survivors. In June, a Mountain Air chopper returning from Dolakha after distributing relief to earthquake victims crashed in Sindhupalchok, killing all four, including a Dutch national, onboard. Later the same month a Simrik Air helicopter caught fire and crashed in Gorkha, but passengers and crew had a narrow escape. - See more at: http://www.lightnepalvdo.com/videos/helicopter-supplying-relief-and-reconstruction-material-to-earthquake/#sthash.IzLFRROk.dpuf
