The Hardship Life Porters Are Living In Nepal – They carry the loads

June 1, 2016 : Gosainkunda is an alpine
freshwater oligotrophic lake in Nepal’s Langtang National Park located
at an altitude of 4 Thousand 3 Hundred and 80 Meter high from the sea
level. Gosainkunda is listed in the third number as the most popular and
beautiful trekking site of Nepal.

Apart from its natural beauty Gosainkunda has also been delineated as a
religious site. Many pligrimages visit Gosainkunda especially during
Janai Purnima carrying their beliefs and devotion towards it. However
the roadways upto Gosainkunda is not that easy as we imagine. Since no
vehicles reaches upto to the main spot of Gosainkunda, porters are found
there waiting for visitors with their loads of bags.

They carry the loads of visitors from the headquarter of Rasuwa to
Gosainkunda. Nimma Dorje who is also a porter shared his inkling of
being a porter. Nimma is a young man who has been invovled in this
career since a long time ago. He has his adult father, mother, his wife
and three children at home. And his porting job is the only way to run
his family.

Nimma Dorje carried the loads of 25 competitors who were participating
in Gosainkunda Marathon competition. He loaded the goods from the
headquarter Dumche across Deurali, Chandanpati and Cholangpati upto the
height of Gosainkunda. This is not a easy job for the work is too much
strenuous and exhausting. He also works in Annapurna and Dhaulagiri
National Parks. However during the season he makes good money but in off
season it just becomes too much difficult to feed his seven members in
his family.

Not only Nimma, there are may people who are working as porters in sites
like this and their story behind their life is same. Lack of employment
and skill have dragged them to do this strenuous work.
